LMO wk2.2 Is education too structured? Ask 18 month old Carson

OK, I admit it - I don't like so much research to justify tiny institutional changes. I'm not a hippy-dippy anarchist, don't get me wrong, just impatient and frustrated at the pace. Just do a search on EBSCO. You'll find good ideas that took years to 'prove'; yet - what impact have they actually made on education? I like Ken Robinson's call for something more organic: in allowing nature to take its course to as much extent is healthy - doing so generating speedy useful feedback. I completely agree that "way behind" no longer holds. In almost 15-years teaching in public schools in California the vast majority of my "problem" students could be attributed to how slowly school works compared to how fast and hungry for relevant understanding these students were. The solution was often to pair the "problem" student with a more structure student and let them collaborate at warp speeds. The phrase "broke beyond repair" comes to mind when I think about the system as it continues to limp along.
